Test Painted Surfaces in the Technical Center in Advance

Drying and evaporating water-based paints in the coating system requires a great deal of time and energy. An efficient process enables condensation drying based on heat pumps. This provides the user with a combination of low temperatures and extremely dry air in a closed system.

Harter developed its condensation drying based on heat pumps over 30 years ago and has been continuously optimizing it ever since. From the very beginning, the Allgäu-based company relied on its own technical center to check the feasibility of drying and determine parameters. Interested parties can see the performance of this low-temperature drying for themselves and have their components tested with regard to temperature, time, humidity, air velocity and air volume flow. Several multifunctional dryers are available for various process types. The series of tests provide information about the drying properties of the respective products. After a detailed preliminary discussion, two technicians carry out the tests. The drying specialists then evaluate the tests and create a corresponding report. All of these steps serve as a solid basis for designing a suitable drying system. In many applications in the technical center, however, it is also about process changes, such as the switch to water-based paints. There are many examples of this.
