Aid Convoy for Ukraine

Present at the departure of the articulated lorry were (from left) Jörg Schilling, who has had contacts in Ukraine for 20 years, driver Jörg Becker, the organizers Walter Müller and Klaus Huber, Managing Director of Holzer Druck und Medien, as well as Martin Öfner, Spokesperson for the Board of Directors of Raiffeisenbank Westallgäu, which is among the donors.

Photo: Peter MittermeierAn aid convoy with goods worth 61,000 Euros — including in-kind donations worth 18,000 Euros — departed from Opfenbach on Sunday at 9 AM, heading for the Polish-Ukrainian border. On board are some of the relief supplies made possible by entrepreneurs from Westallgäu and three Rotary Clubs with the help of monetary donations. Harter also contributed 2,500 Euros to the aid delivery.

Jörg Becker is at the wheel of the articulated lorry. The 72-year-old works part-time for the Müller forwarding company. It handles the aid transports free of charge. Also present is Jörg Schilling (Rotary Club Lindau-Westallgäu), who has had long-standing
contacts in Ukraine.
