Whether large-scale producer or small manufacturer – drying processes are necessary in many manufacturing and processing operations in the food industry. They have a significant impact on the quality of the products. A gentle type of drying with simultaneously high-quality results and, in addition, a very good energy balance is achieved with a process that has long been used successfully in other industries – and for some time now also for food.
The process in question is condensation drying with a heat pump – a process that the drying system manufacturer Harter from Stiefenhofen in the Allgäu region developed 30 years ago. A good ten years ago, the process found its way into the pharmaceutical sector, and from there the step into the food industry was not far. Both sectors appreciate the advantages of this gentle and at the same time efficient type of drying, which is able to dehumidify in a variable temperature range from 10 °C to 90 °C.
