Process-reliable sludge drying in container format

Container dryers from HARTER based on Drymex® technology dry sludge in a closed air circuit – reproducibly, efficiently and independently of the room climate. Heat pump and precise air guidance ensure constant results with varying filling levels and sludge types. The modular design enables perfect integration into existing infrastructures.

Your benefits

The Drymex® M-Line offers compact batch dryers in container format:

DRYMEX® – Modules Water extraction capacity l/24h Usable container volume
M2 125 0.25 m³
M3 250 0.50 m³
M4 500 1.00 m³
M5 770 1.50 m³

Equipment:

  • Insulated drying cabinet
  • Heat pump
  • Humidity sensor for automatic shutdown when the degree of dryness is reached
  • Air cooler: Core tubes made of stainless steel
  • Aluminum fins with epoxy resin coating
  • Cabinet floor, air duct and sludge container made of stainless steel 1.4301
  • Frame: Powder-coated aluminum
  • Housing: Anodized aluminum
  • Two sludge containers for emptying using a tilting device
  • Volume flow control for optimum dehumidification performance: this is useful for strongly varying filling levels or when drying different types of sludge that differ greatly in terms of air permeability
Drymex® operates with a closed air system. External climate influences have no effect on temperature and humidity. This ensures constant drying quality, plannable cycle times and high process reliability – all year round.
The drying container has a specially aerated base. The dry process air flows evenly through the sludge, quickly absorbs moisture and reduces drying times with low-dust, stable results.
The systems are fully automatically controlled via an electronic air humidity measurement. Once the desired residual moisture content has been reached, the dryer switches off automatically – for reproducible quality and minimal supervision.
Heat pump-based dehumidification with heat recovery significantly reduces energy consumption. Compared to conventional processes, you reduce operating costs and CO₂ emissions – with consistently high product quality.
The dehumidification performance can be adapted to varying filling levels and different types of sludge via the volume flow control. This ensures that air permeability and degree of drying remain process-reliably within the target range.

Contacting components such as the cabinet floor, air duct and sludge container are made of stainless steel 1.4301; frame and housing in aluminum (powder-coated/anodized). This ensures a long-lasting, low-maintenance operation.

In addition to the standard models, HARTER designs customized Drymex® special systems as batch or belt dryers. Module separation, zoned air guidance and application-related control enable maximum efficiency for individual process goals.

For special solutions, the heat pump module and drying container are set up separately. This allows the system to be optimally adapted to spatial conditions – ideal for confined areas, existing hall layouts and subsequent expansions.
The Process

The Drymex® heat pump module of our sludge dryers provides the necessary process air and is also responsible for the condensation process. We work with extremely dry and thus unsaturated air, guiding it homogeneously through the sludge. This combination of efficient air preparation and appropriate air guidance ensures a high-quality drying result.

Interface Drymex® heat pump module / drying container: humid air is extracted from the drying chamber and fed to the dehumidification unit.

Moisture condenses on the fins of the air cooler and drains out of the drying system via the drip tray and condensate drain.

The air heater warms the air to the required process temperature.

The process air fan ensures the necessary air exchange between the Drymex® heat pump module and the drying chamber.

Now, the dry, unsaturated air is guided into the drying chamber. This closes the circuit.

Efficiency that pays off.

Our HARTER drying systems save up to 75% CO₂ and are up to 45% governmentally funded.

What Our Customers Say

Not convinced yet? Our customers are thrilled!

“Sometimes it’s better to say nothing and let your customers speak for themselves.”
– Regina Mader, Managing Director

“For several decades, we have been using a Harter sludge dryer in our contract electroplating facility and are very satisfied with it. The technology and service are reliable and have helped us save a significant amount of money on disposal.”

Daniel Hutter
Verzinkerei Kriessern AG

“BK Giulini GmbH has been successfully collaborating with Harter GmbH for approximately 20 years. We are very satisfied with both the dryer technology and the reliability of the entire system. Based on these positive experiences and the excellent service, we invested in another drying system of this type in 2023.”

Dimitri Baumbach
ICL Ladenburg / BK Giulini GmbH (ICL Group)

“In our waste incineration plant, we have saved a significant amount of money by drying our heavy metal-containing hydroxide sludge. The plant technology is sustainable and maintenance-friendly. In retrospect, the investment was a very good decision.”
