A renowned chemical company dries pre-dewatered sewage sludge today. Before, their sludge had to be disposed of as ‘special waste’. They had three drying systems with six 1 m³ containers each installed.

- Reclassification: The dried sludge is now classified ‘residual waste’ and may be subjected to combustion.
- Dry matter content after drying: > 70 percent
- Drying temperature: 45 °C
- Water removal rate: > 8 tons / day
- Power requirement < 0.4 kW per litre of water removed
The operator could thus reduce their disposal cost by more than 90 percent!
